Today I was like a walking zombie. Physically, I was there. I moved boxes from A to B. I cleaned the dishes. I went to the toilet. But my head wasn’t all there.
I’m still dealing with the aftermath of the five-day filming gig I had. On top of that, Ollie wakes up a lot at night. Although I don’t have to deal with it (as Mandy takes care of most of the nightly baby work), the crying is difficult to ignore. And the fact that I’m a night owl and start working on new things well past 23.30 doesn’t help either, I think.
The whole day, we had to prepare for a weekend full of events. Well, there are two events that both take two days. So for us, it’s like having four events in one weekend. For 92% of the time, Mandy and I are like glue. But this weekend, we will have to split. And I must say, it makes me a bit stressy. Not full-on stressed, but just a bit more nervous.
You see, when we go to events to promote our Thais Tafelen cooking kits, Mandy is the summer breeze of our pop-up shop. She also makes sure our stand looks crisp. I, on the other hand, am more like a donkey. I get the job done, getting everything into place. I clean up when needed. But I also like to operate a bit in the back. Like a silent workhorse.
What also doesn’t help with the zombie status is the fact that we have a lot of decisions to make. It’s not that I don’t like to make decisions. I just want to take my time to overthink all options before I move in a direction. I think I’m good at figuring out the best options. Therefore, I need to have peace and tranquillity. And at this moment, I have neither.
So tomorrow, without Mandy’s presence, I am forced to snap out of zombie mode. I know everything will be okay. I’ve done this more than 50 times by now. But for sure I will miss Mandy. Because she let’s me be a zombie some times, so I can shine like a voluptuous Shetland pony at full gallop.
