The daily notes
EVERY DAY ONE STORY.The hidden costs of better things
I want to have nice things. I want good things that work. I want things that look good.
The problem of being a dad and entrepreneur
Today, I was at home with Ollie all day. Mandy was at a market, selling our Thais Tafelen cooking kits. While Mandy was making money, I had full responsibility for our baby boy.
I have never done so much in a couple of days
Lately, I’ve discovered that Codex can do magical things. Now, I’m able to do so many things in a day; it’s almost hard to believe. My productivity has skyrocketed, but I’m not sure if it’s a good thing.
You can’t produce a banger every day
Today, on Monday, I had a drink with an old school friend. We have known each other since we were about 14. When I came home, it was already 23.30.
The one social conversation mistake everyone makes
Almost everyone I talk to does this one thing that signals to me that they are not a reliable person. Personally, I think if you don’t do this one thing, you’ll stand out from the crowd for multiple reasons. The social mistake almost everyone makes is that they only talk about themselves.
Your friends will hate you for this
When I studied architecture, we had these crazy weeks. At the end of every semester, we had to present our architectural design. With scale models, drawings, calculations, a report, and a presentation.
How to deal with a crying baby
At 20.00 we drove back from a visit to my sister’s restaurant. We had a 40-minute drive home. Ollie was crying for 39 minutes.
One of my biggest fears
I’m not afraid of being dead. It’s not that I want to die or that I’m scared of death. But since I don’t believe in reincarnation or a magical place above the clouds, being dead is just an empty space to me.
Being obsessed
I have so many to-do’s that often I don’t know where to start. So, to be honest, it happens more than once that I first let myself be distracted. Sometimes with social media, sometimes with researching things that have no priority.
Why I should keep a notebook
I think good, and even the best, ideas come when you do ordinary things without distraction. Driving, doing the dishes, pooping, etc. This morning, while driving to work, I had a great idea for today’s story. The sad thing is that I only remember that it was something nice to talk about.
