Going out for dinner without our baby
Today, Mandy and I went out for dinner together. It was the first time we had a romantic dinner with just the two of us, after we became first time parents six months ago. We realized that this type of quality time is much needed every once in a while.
It’s going to be a short night
Tomorrow morning, the alarm goes off at 6. I’m not a morning psycho, so for me this is really early. What makes it even worse is that it’s already 00:30 at this moment.
Ollie’s first words
Every parent is disproportionately proud of their own children. Mandy and I are no exception. Every day, we watch with awe as our child grows.
A Sunday at home
It’s very rare for us to spend a Sunday at home. Either we are working or visiting friends or family. Today, we stayed at home.
I don’t want to try
For Thais Tafelen, when we go to a fair, we let people taste our product for free. You would say that if you like Thai food, you’d want to taste it. Right?
I don’t like bargaining
Today, I bought a second-hand two-seat bench for our Mercedes Sprinter van. Maybe I overpaid. So, we swapped a comfortable single passenger seat for a bench so that Ollie, Mandy, and I can travel together in the big van.
The hidden costs of better things
I want to have nice things. I want good things that work. I want things that look good.
The problem of being a dad and entrepreneur
Today, I was at home with Ollie all day. Mandy was at a market, selling our Thais Tafelen cooking kits. While Mandy was making money, I had full responsibility for our baby boy.
How to deal with a crying baby
At 20.00 we drove back from a visit to my sister’s restaurant. We had a 40-minute drive home. Ollie was crying for 39 minutes.
Why I should keep a notebook
I think good, and even the best, ideas come when you do ordinary things without distraction. Driving, doing the dishes, pooping, etc. This morning, while driving to work, I had a great idea for today’s story. The sad thing is that I only remember that it was something nice to talk about.
