A deadly combination. To be busy and to be tired at the same time. We all know the feeling. There are so many things to do. Some things you want to do. Some things you have to do. Some things you can do. The biggest chance is that when you’re tired, you will spend doing things that you can do, but shouldn’t be doing.
Now…what could that thing be? There’s a 99% chance (not statistically proven, but given the time we live in) that you start devouring your favorite doomsday scrolling app. For many people of my generation, that would be Instagram. If you’re feeling young, that would be TikTok. Fifty-plus are anger posting on Facebook. My weapon of choice is X, formerly known as Twitter.
But when you’re busy enough doing things that you should do, something magical happens. There’s no need for endless scrolling and swiping. There’s a task. You do the task. Then you move on to the next. Until you’re satisfied, need a break, or bump into a problem. Then, probably, you reach for your phone.
In this whole column, I say you…but I can’t speak for you. For sure it’s me. But maybe it’s also you.
Anyhow. I was very busy today, filming a big project, and had no time to read other people’s opinions and everything that’s wrong with the world according to them. I had clear things to do. And in between the to do’s? There was socializing. Not through a screen. But with a cup of coffee, eyes, facial expressions, and spoken words.
Currently, it’s 23.20. I’m tired after my alarm went off 06.30 this morning. My brain and hands are itching. My phone is calling me, it’s screaming for me. But I have a trick. I told myself to write a story every day. So here’s the story. At least, today, I’ve done a lot of things that I should do.
Now, I think I’ve deserved a bit of X time. Tomorrow, I’ll be busy again.
